Head of department / Scientist (m/w/d) to support the Upstream Development Department (USP)

Your tasks in our team:

  • Professional and disciplinary management of the USP department
  • Development and optimization of bioprocesses to produce various biologics or biosimilars within the framework of international customer projects
  • Working closely and coordinating with other departments—project management, cell line development, downstream development, analytics, and quality management
  • Independent planning and coordination of cell culture experiments in different cultivation systems (from 10 mL to 5 L) and process strategies (batch, fed batch, or perfusion)
  • Continuous development of our technologies and workflows by contributing your own ideas and conducting literature research
  • Providing technical guidance and support to associate scientists and technical assistants
  • Independently drafting SOPs, records, and customer reports and maintaining regulatory standards

 

What we expect from you:

  • Completed degree in biotechnology/biology (diploma/master’s/PhD)
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably with experience in personnel management
  • Experience with cell cultures, ideally with CHO cells and different bioreactor systems
  • Business fluent in German and English
  • Solution-oriented, independent way of thinking and working
  • Proactive communication and organizational skills
  • High level of commitment, sense of responsibility, and ability to work in a team
  • Experience in GMP environments, product development up to clinical application, and large-scale manufacturing (e.g., 2000-L scale) is a plus
